BB line drops when watching BBC iPlayer

Every time I go to watch a BBC iPlayer stream (be that on the iplayer page or on the news page, or the doctorwho page :p) the broadband "b" light goes off on my 1.5 home hub after about 15 seconds of watching and I have to reboot the hub to get the internet connection back.
It was working fine when iPlayer first came out but this has been happening for the last month or so. I'm currently on the 6.2.6.E version of Hub software ..
Do BT know about this? Is anything being done to get it fixed? Or is it BT that's causing the problem to reduce traffic?
Anyone know? Thanks.

Hi Mac,
Thanks for the reply ..
Nope .. everything else is fine .. youtube etc no problem at all.
Current line speeds as shown in the hub web pages ..
Downstream 8,128 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps
I've just done a speedtest and got this ..
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6518 kbps
2. Assured Rate Test: -provides background information.
Assured Rate IP profile on your line is - 500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 513 kbps

Hi Your Line speed looks good and its reporting a good speed and as you aren't having any problems with other streaming sites such as you tube, then i think your line is ok
Can you post your full stats of the hub? its probably not really relevant, but won't hurt to see them.... something on the iplayer is wrecking it.
In work, so don't have the link handy.. I think its in advanced--ADSL Line-- Details.
Have you tied going to a BBc page that has a video embedded in it - i.e a news item (it uses the iplayer ) to see if the same problem occurs
Try this link. (not very exciting, but worth to see if anything happens)
BBC Iplayer Test
Mac.

Exactly the same thing with me.
iPlayer was working fine up until a week ago. Now about 1 min in to any programme broadband connection is dropped & only a hard reset gets connection back.
This only occurs with iPlayer, you tube etc. fine
Also I tested with another router not homehub & it did not have this prob. So it's not the line & only the hub that seems to be causing the problem.
Any ideas?

Yes, this is happening to me too.
Safari on my mac, Firefox on my PC, haven't tried others yet.
Problem has developed in the last week or so. Neither embedded video in the news site, or any iplayer flash streams work.
Either something is wrong in the homehub firmware or Bt are throttling bbc video!

I am streaming "I'd do anything" on IE7 whilst I am typing this on Firefox. I can hear it playing perfectly. I even downloaded a Firefox update whilst it's streaming. I'm on 2.5Meg profile.
Obviously not a universal problem.
P.S. I'm on V1 hub on 6.2.6.E

I have exactly this problem. Not only annoying for me, but for whoever else is in the house is using the Internet at the same time, and loses connection whilst it restarts.
Is BT going against the principles of Net neutrality by detecting what content we're accessing, and restricting access to certain bandwidth-heavy sites?

This is still an ongoing problem for me - has anyone yet found a way to fix it?

Am having the same problem here. I've just moved house, ironically from the middle of nowhere where everything worked fine to London where iPlayer just keeps falling over. Can't offer any advice but thought i'd add fuel to flames so to speak.

Just spent ages on the phone to Delhi. They confirm that it's a firmware problem, that has not been resolved by the upgrade to 6.2.6.H. Just have to sit and wait until they get around to fixing it. The homehub is over complicated- never had this problem with ordinary routes from other ISPs.

This fault needs more information from users who have the problem and I am surprised BT have not used this "beta" forum to gather statistics from those affected
e.g. Location (exchange)
Line Speed (The original poster had 6Meg!)
Hub Model
Firmware Version
Browser
Operating System
etc....BT should know what to ask for, but just guessing it's firmware will never fix problems like this.
Correlation of the statistics will often point to a causation.
Whilst I have 3Meg and no problems, and someone else has 6meg and can't keep connected, surely it must be something bizarre in the BT network somewhere. Whilst BT and the BBC do not "see i to i" about iPlayer there is a politically sensitive reason to solve this problem to avoid anyone wondering if the iPlayer service is getting low priority. But asking customers for information is an admission of being baffled, and that's politically sensitive too.
So here goes My iPlayer is OK and I am
Luton (Milton Keynes internet exchange)
Bandwitdh profile 3Meg
V1 Hub
6.2.6.E
IE7
Vista Home Premium
